Feasible solutions

Different solutions to the problem of Agunot and Mesoravot get have been proposed over the years. Their stated goal was to alleviate the anguish of agunot and mesoravot get and to free them from being chained in an unwanted marriage. Some of the proposed solutions and the reservations some rabbis have expressed follow:

Preventive Solutions

Solutions after the Fact

• Coerced divorce
• Mistaken transaction
• Betrothal annulment

Although the problem is complicated, solutions are available. These solutions should be based on Jewish morals values, and should respect democratic values such as human and civil rights even when a relationship is not legally binding.
