Directing its efforts toward the rabbinical courts, ICAR’s Halacha committee advocates an administrative separation between granting a divorce and deciding on matters related to it (alimony, division of property, child custody, etc.). Two different panels of judges would decide on the two matters separately.
The committee also addresses its efforts toward rabbis in the community, in part by distributing three articles about agunot and mesuravot get written by Halachic authorities. It aims to recruit the participation of rabbis in the public debate on the issue and the search for equitable and Halachically compatible solutions.
